Koko Crater Trail

Koko Crater Trail, also know as "Koko Head Stairs" is a short but challenging hike. It's an old military rail system that was used to carry supplies to the top. It is no longer in use. It serves as a rewarding hike with impressive panoramic views of Hanauma Bay and the Southside of O'ahu.

The trail is mostly composed of old train tracks that guide you up to the crater. It feels as if you were climbing angled stairs.

View the top.                                                                              View from the bottom.

Don’t underestimate this trail. Koko Head Trail is considered a short-hike as it is less than one mile long; however, it is a demanding hike. Take plenty of water (i.e., Hydration Pack or large hydro-flask) with you and try to begin your hike early in the morning, or in the afternoon when is not too hot.
